UPDATE: Check out my updated wood floor and an added backdrop here!

I recently came across this tutorial at Colorvale, and I decided to make my own faux wood floor and background since I live in a tiny apartment and need a background for newborn and product shoots. If you’re a blogger or photographer, this is an easy and cheap way to create a rich background for your products or subjects!

Materials
I bought two 2’x4′, 1/4′ thick sheets of plywood – $10 each and eight 6 inch wide self-adhesive, laminate faux wood vinyl planks – $2 each (I found these at Lowes; they’re called “peel-and-stick”).

I wanted the planks to run across the width of the plywood, so I (or… Joel) cut them all in half.

Then we carefully laid each board across the plywood.

Aren’t they beautiful! I made the bear too, for my nephew Abel 🙂
